General

Yes, in combination with a package. If you take a package for car or motorcycle, the trial lesson is free. If you only want a trial lesson without a package, you pay the normal lesson rate. You drive a full lesson with an instructor, we assess your experience and you get an honest estimate of how many lessons you will need. Whether you take a package afterwards is entirely up to you.

Yes, you drive with one fixed instructor. They know how you learn and what you are still working on, so every lesson continues where you left off instead of starting over.

Yes. We teach in Dutch and English. You can also sit the CBR theory exam in English.

Cancel at least 24 hours in advance and we charge nothing. After that the lesson is charged, because the slot can no longer be given to someone else.

Yes. Start to Ride, our first car package, can be paid in up to 3 instalments. The other car and motorcycle packages can also be paid in instalments; you discuss the options with your instructor.

As a student you use the PlanGo app. It shows your scheduled lessons, your progress and your invoices.

Car lessons

Yes, in combination with a package. If you take a package for car or motorcycle, the trial lesson is free. If you only want a trial lesson without a package, you pay the normal lesson rate. Nationally the average is around 40 lessons, but that says little about you. If you already have experience it can be far fewer. After your trial lesson we give a realistic estimate. We would rather be honest than sell you a story you pay for later.

Yes, you drive with one fixed instructor. They know how you learn and what you are still working on, so every lesson continues where you left off instead of starting over.

You can sit the theory exam from age 16. Lessons may start at 16.5 and you can take the practical exam from 17 via 2toDrive. From 18 you drive independently; before that with a coach beside you. For the motorcycle, you can take the category A exams from age 21.

Usually two to three half-days per week. We set the exact schedule after your trial lesson, based on your level and your deadline.

Ideally yes, or you pass it within two weeks. Without a theory certificate you cannot take the practical exam, and on an intensive course that exam comes quickly.

We apply for a priority exam at the CBR. How soon it can be also depends on CBR exam availability. During your trial lesson we tell you honestly whether your deadline is achievable.

It can, but even on an intensive course expect dozens of lessons. An intensive course speeds things up, but you still need to build experience. It works best if you have already had a few lessons.

The interim test (TTT) is a practice exam at the CBR. Not required, but smart: you experience exactly how an exam works, and if you pass you no longer need to perform a special manoeuvre in your real exam.

The re-exam guarantee comes with the Premium Ride package. If you fail your practical exam, your re-exam is already included in the package and you do not pay for it separately. The guarantee covers one re-exam.

2toDrive

The coach pass costs €27 at the RDW, regardless of the number of coaches. First your coaches register with the RDW using their DigiD. Once approved, you apply for the pass yourself with your DigiD.

Yes, but you then need to apply for a new coach pass and pay €27 again. So put everyone who might coach you on the pass straight away, up to a maximum of five.

No. Until your 18th birthday you may only drive in the Netherlands, even with your coach beside you. So not even a quick trip across the border to Belgium or Germany.

From your 18th birthday you may drive on your own and no longer need the coach pass. Your coach no longer has to sit beside you.

Motorcycle lessons

Yes, in combination with a package. If you take a package for car or motorcycle, the trial lesson is free. If you only want a trial lesson without a package, you pay the normal lesson rate. You drive a full lesson with an instructor, we assess your experience and you get an honest estimate of how many lessons you will need. Whether you take a package afterwards is entirely up to you.

Yes, you drive with one fixed instructor. They know how you learn and what you are still working on, so every lesson continues where you left off instead of starting over.

It differs per person and depends mainly on your experience. Our packages have 16, 26 or 36 lessons of 50 minutes: Start for riders with some experience, Pro for those who have never sat on a motorcycle. After your intake you get an honest estimate of what you need.

It mainly depends on how many lessons you need, which in turn depends on your experience and how quickly you learn. Driving schools usually assume around 20 to 30 hours of lessons for category A, but that says little about you. After your intake you get a realistic estimate, so you know where you stand in advance.

No, you do not need a car licence for category A. If you already hold category B, you may take the AVB exam without motorcycle theory. For the AVD exam you always need to have passed the motorcycle theory exam.

Valid identification and complete riding gear: an approved helmet, gloves, a motorcycle jacket and trousers, and motorcycle boots or shoes that cover your ankles. This also applies to your intake. Without proper gear the lesson does not go ahead, but it is still charged.

AVB is the vehicle-control exam: slow and fast manoeuvres on a closed course. AVD is the traffic-participation exam: over an hour of riding in real traffic. You must pass AVB before you can take AVD.

At RidePro you work towards category A, the licence for all motorcycles. You can get it from age 21. If you are under 24, your licence carries code 80: until it expires you ride motorcycles up to and including category A2 (maximum 35 kW). If you are 24 or older, or have held an A2 licence for at least two years, you get no code 80. We do not offer separate A1 or A2 training ourselves. Not sure which route applies to you? Give us a call.

Yes. From your 21st birthday you can take the CBR exams for category A: theory, AVB and AVD. If you are under 24 you receive code 80 on your licence. From age 24 you get the full category A straight away, without code 80.

Code 80 appears on your licence if you get category A before you turn 24. It lets you ride motorcycles up to and including category A2 (maximum 35 kW) and three-wheelers above 15 kW. The code expires two years after you pass or on your 24th birthday, whichever comes first. After that you may ride all motorcycles, with no extra exam. If you are still under 24 by then, request a new licence card from your municipality yourself; otherwise the restriction stays on your card until you turn 24.

Complete protective riding gear is required, at the CBR exam and during every lesson at RidePro, including your intake. You need: an approved helmet with ECE mark and fastening strap (without a visor only with glasses or sunglasses), gloves covering hand and wrist, a jacket and trousers that fully protect your arms, upper body and legs, and sturdy boots or shoes that cover your ankles. Ordinary jeans or sneakers are not allowed. If you are not properly dressed, your lesson does not go ahead but is still charged. For hygiene reasons we do not lend out gear; you arrange your own. All requirements are on our riding gear page.

Yes, but only before your second practical exam. With category B you may take the AVB exam (vehicle control) without motorcycle theory. For the AVD exam (road riding) you must have passed the motorcycle theory exam.

From age 17. That lets you pass your theory well before you start motorcycle lessons.

Theory

You can sit the theory exam from age 16. Lessons may start at 16.5 and you can take the practical exam from 17 via 2toDrive. From 18 you drive independently; before that with a coach beside you. For the motorcycle, you can take the category A exams from age 21.

No, you can start lessons right away. You do need your theory certificate before taking the practical exam. Our advice: pass your theory in the first few weeks, and you will understand what you are doing in the car much faster.

The CBR exam has three parts: hazard perception, knowledge and insight. You need to pass all three to pass the exam.

Eighteen months. If you do not pass your practical exam within that time, you have to sit the theory exam again. So do not take your theory too long before you start driving.

Yes, but only before your second practical exam. With category B you may take the AVB exam (vehicle control) without motorcycle theory. For the AVD exam (road riding) you must have passed the motorcycle theory exam.

From age 17. That lets you pass your theory well before you start motorcycle lessons.
